God's Healing

culduthelchristiancentre.org Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much James 5:16 (NKJV) I received a telephone call from a dear friend this week. Sometime ago, she had asked me to pray for a then-13-year-old boy who had cancer. I had recently asked her about how he was doing. She told me that he was 'doing better'. He had asked for a pony. His family purchased one for him and he enjoyed riding it. Earlier in the day that she called me, she had met with some former neighbors who stay in touch with each other. One of those former neighbors is related to this young boy. My friend asked how he was doing. The woman responded, “He's cancer-free!” My friend told her that I had been praying for him and had inquired about him recently. The answer my friend received was: “Prayers helped heal him.” This set me to thinking. We seek cures for ill...

The Lord in Our Lives

Image
wallpapersafari.com Have you ever wondered if the Lord is actually watching over you, actually in you lives? I certainly have. Due to nearly missing being in car accidents twice this summer, I have come to realize that, yes, God is watching over me as I go through my day. Just yesterday, I had an appointment to get our car fixed. I had to drive across town to the car dealership that took over when the previous owner chose to retire. It is located across town from where we live. I was driven home via their Shuttle Van. I waited for a phone call from the young woman who waited on me in the service department. While I waited, I began to look for my cellphone, It was not where I placed it in an outer pocket of my purse. I kept having the same thought about the location of my phone-”it's in your car.” I received the phone call that the Shuttle Van was on its way to pick me up. I opened the front door; I sat down on the couch and waited. When the shuttle pulled up and hon...

"But If Not. . .”

Image
Toronto FPC In Sunday School Class, we are studying the book of Daniel. I found I had book entitled “The Daniel Code” by O. S. Hawkins. The author of this book has piqued my thinking on my word for this year. That word is FAITH. In the book of Daniel, we have the story of Daniel and his three friends, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abed-Nego. The three friends of Daniel refused to bow down to the 90 foot tall that King Nebuchadnezzar had ordered be built. In response to the king's commanding that the three friends be put to death inside a furnace, set to be seven times hotter than normal, they responded that their God would not allow this to happen to them. Then their next words were “But if not. . .” they wished it be known that they honored God's wishes and followed his commands by not bowing down to a lesser god and any idols. Mr. Hawkins tells his readers that those three words are words of faith. As I live out my life, I have learned that my faith should be in Christ...

Trust In The Lord

Image
Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust the Lord: When we learn to trust someone, we place our faith in him or her. We do not doubt what he or she says or does. With all your heart : Curtis Zachary, the author of Finding Soul Rest ,makes a very interesting point. “ In order to trust the Lord with all your heart, you have to give Him all your heart. In all your ways acknowledge Him : Every thing we have, everything we are able to do is ours because God allows us to have those things and to do those things. He will make straight your paths . God will lead you down the paths that He sees best for you. That path may require us to do things that we have not thought we could do but He guides us through. Yes, we have to give Jesus every bit of our heart. By doing this, we find ourselves more patient, less judgmental, more a...
