Do We Take God for Granted?

Image
An inspired pencil.com Be still and know I am God. Psalm 46:10 By my question, I mean “Do we presume God will be there for us?” Or “ Do we think He will answer our prayers as we wish?” Sometimes, we have something happen in our lives and we automatically think that God will take care of it. We forget that we have to ask Him about the need we have and how we can handle the issue from our perspective. When we ask Him, God directs us to take certain steps in order to guide us through the issues at hand. These steps may be things we have neglected or things we have felt unable to do. I am writing these thoughts from personal experience. I have not been active in my writing for quite sometime. I will not bore you, my readers, with all the details. I will say that it has been one thing after another most of this year. Please pray for me and my family as we continue on through this un...

The Lord in Our Lives

Image
wallpapersafari.com Have you ever wondered if the Lord is actually watching over you, actually in you lives? I certainly have. Due to nearly missing being in car accidents twice this summer, I have come to realize that, yes, God is watching over me as I go through my day. Just yesterday, I had an appointment to get our car fixed. I had to drive across town to the car dealership that took over when the previous owner chose to retire. It is located across town from where we live. I was driven home via their Shuttle Van. I waited for a phone call from the young woman who waited on me in the service department. While I waited, I began to look for my cellphone, It was not where I placed it in an outer pocket of my purse. I kept having the same thought about the location of my phone-”it's in your car.” I received the phone call that the Shuttle Van was on its way to pick me up. I opened the front door; I sat down on the couch and waited. When the shuttle pulled up and hon...

Trust In The Lord

Image
Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust the Lord: When we learn to trust someone, we place our faith in him or her. We do not doubt what he or she says or does. With all your heart : Curtis Zachary, the author of Finding Soul Rest ,makes a very interesting point. “ In order to trust the Lord with all your heart, you have to give Him all your heart. In all your ways acknowledge Him : Every thing we have, everything we are able to do is ours because God allows us to have those things and to do those things. He will make straight your paths . God will lead you down the paths that He sees best for you. That path may require us to do things that we have not thought we could do but He guides us through. Yes, we have to give Jesus every bit of our heart. By doing this, we find ourselves more patient, less judgmental, more a...

Be Thankful

Image
My husband and a friend of ours surprised me this week with an unusual gift. It is a good-sized rock with a bumble bee on the left and the word “thankful” across the top of the rock. It sits on my desk next to my computer. On the underneath side, It has my name and the year's date (2025), All this has made me think on my being thankful. Am I being thankful enough? Am I thankful when God doesn't answer my prayers as I want Him to? Do I act thankful when we have several days of gloomy, rainy days? Am I thankful when my plans for the day get changed by someone else? For me, I have to keep in mind that He is in control, not puny little me. Some days, I find it difficult to remember this. I also have to remember that God is sovereign, He can do anything He wants. Prayer: Father God, thank You for reminding me I am to be thankful for all You do for us and all You allow us to do. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Search Me O God!

Search me, O God and know my heart! Try me and know my anxious thoughts! And see if there be any grievances in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139: 23-24 (NIV)  A P salm of David. David invites God to look intently into his heart. We should ask the same pf God. David then gives God permission to test him and to know what was on his mind. David asks God to look for anything that would cause grief in His heart. Also, David asks to be led by God forever. Shouldn't we, each Christ follower, ask God to search our hearts and reveal our intentions in order to prepare us for the privilege of being led by God as we go through our days? When we ask God to search our hearts, we ask Him to look for things we grumble about. (The weather, the traffic, those who get on our nerves, the actions of our children, etc.) When we ask Him to do this we may find ourselves surprised ...
