Be Thankful

Image
My husband and a friend of ours surprised me this week with an unusual gift. It is a good-sized rock with a bumble bee on the left and the word “thankful” across the top of the rock. It sits on my desk next to my computer. On the underneath side, It has my name and the year's date (2025), All this has made me think on my being thankful. Am I being thankful enough? Am I thankful when God doesn't answer my prayers as I want Him to? Do I act thankful when we have several days of gloomy, rainy days? Am I thankful when my plans for the day get changed by someone else? For me, I have to keep in mind that He is in control, not puny little me. Some days, I find it difficult to remember this. I also have to remember that God is sovereign, He can do anything He wants. Prayer: Father God, thank You for reminding me I am to be thankful for all You do for us and all You allow us to do. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Search Me O God!

Search me, O God and know my heart! Try me and know my anxious thoughts! And see if there be any grievances in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139: 23-24 (NIV)  A P salm of David. David invites God to look intently into his heart. We should ask the same pf God. David then gives God permission to test him and to know what was on his mind. David asks God to look for anything that would cause grief in His heart. Also, David asks to be led by God forever. Shouldn't we, each Christ follower, ask God to search our hearts and reveal our intentions in order to prepare us for the privilege of being led by God as we go through our days? When we ask God to search our hearts, we ask Him to look for things we grumble about. (The weather, the traffic, those who get on our nerves, the actions of our children, etc.) When we ask Him to do this we may find ourselves surprised ...

Love Suffers Long

Love suffers long and is kind, love does not envy, does not parade itself, is not puffed up. 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NKJV) Words of Paul Suffers long -is patient; the King James Version uses the Old English phrase-long suffering. To me, that paints a picture of the meaning of the word patient. Kind- tender in dealing with others. Does not envy - Does not wish for or want what what another person has. Does not parade itself- does not say, “Look at me!” Is not puffed up- is genuine.

Rejoice and Be Glad

This is t he day the Lord has made; We will r ejoice and be glad i n it. Psalm 118:24 This verse is one that my best friend quotes to me when she senses that I am having a difficult day. Hearing it always lifts my spirits. I have been thinking a lot about this verse. The following thoughts help me through the seemingly tough times. God makes each day. He chooses whether we have sunshine or clouds. He chooses those clouds to either be light puffy clouds or dark ominous ones. He also chooses if we get to have warm or cool days. He gets to choose the duration of the extreme heat or cool weather. God also determines whether we receive sunshine or rain. We should learn to be thankful for what He gives us each day. We need to learn to be thankful for what He has given us each day, the good things and even the things that are not so good. Recently, a lady in my church passed awa...

Life Gets Interesting...

As I have gotten older, my life seems to get more interesting. I have told people “Life gets interesting as we get older.:” I think about things differently that in my younger years. A dear saint of our church was taken to heaven earlier this month. Had God not taken her home with him, she would have celebrated her 87 th birthday two days ago. I was in conversation with another lady from church this afternoon. She helps out at a missions outreach that our departed friend headed up. She told me it was a hard time, a busy time, and spoke of the number of families that the crew helped. She, like those that knew our absent friend, knows that God did the right thing in choosing to take her home. No one is exempt from facing our demise or that of someone close to us. We have to learn to trust God and have faith that He knows what is best for each of us. Psalm 139:16 tells God chooses the number of days we are allotted before we are born. Life is precious. We shou...

God is Good to His Children

I am still having electronic issues. Now my printer does not work. I am on a wireless connection between the printer and  my new laptop. Our son, who does some IT work, got frustrated with me when I started to tell him about this chapter of my "adventure". What he told me to do, I could not seem to get started on. Last Wednesday, I contacted the printer's manufacturer and truly got nowhere with the man. He made the suggestion that he turn this case over to someone in a higher level. We set a time, of my choosing, for the call. I did not receive a call on Thursday or Friday.  My remedy may be to  go to another manufacturer and do some serious looking and asking questions. I know no other way out off this deep hole that I am in. God is still with me and guiding me through all this.
